Cyber bullying is a form of bullying or harassment using electronic means. It is known as cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is when someone bully or harass others on the internet especially on social media sites. It is typically by sending messages of an intimidating, threatening or trolling nature to another person. It can include sending, posting or sharing negative, harmful, false or mean content about someone by sharing personal or private info about someone else. This can cause embarassment or humilitation.
Cyber bullying is now no longer a new phenomenon as it had happened throughout this modern era since social media has been invented. However, the digital landscape has fundamentally changed the way that young people are experiencing it. Cyber bullying can cause any form of psychological and emotional distress especially towards children and adolescence. Those who are cyberbullied experience anxiety, depression, fear and low self-esteem, much like any other victim of bullying. Cyberbullied victims feel overwhelmingly vulnerable and powerless. Cyberbullying can make its pernicious effects felt anywhere and anytime unlike conventional bullying. The cyberbullied victims will not feel safe as the fact that the cyberbullies are often anonymous and this make them feel clueless and helpless. Victims of cyberbullying feel humiliated and exposed. Even if a humiliating message has taken down from one place, it can be shared among countless others. The knowledge that something humiliating about them is accessible to countless people can drive a cyberbullied victim to despair. Besides, victims of cyberbullying may develop a negative self-image, as a result of vicious posts and messages that demonize them for their weakness. They will start to doubt their value and start to lose their self-worth.
